Kosher Food:  Keeping kosher in Champaign-Urbana is relatively easy, the main challenges being purchase of meat and cheese and eating away from home.  Most kosher items can be found in CU, although you may have to search several stores.  Very few kosher items are simply unavailable locally. Religious Education: Sinai Temple Religious School offers classes in Judaica, including Torah, Jewish history, prayer, theology, Jewish holidays, and Hebrew language. Seniors CHAI provides programs and services for seniors; transportation, holiday packages and friendly visits to the ill, homebound, and recently bereaved.  Popular weekday daytime programs are attended by between 30 and 60 people.  On Rosh Hashanah, Chanukah, Purim, and Pesach, the committee delivers gifts of food, greeting cards and holiday information  Learn more

End Of Life: Whatever choices a family makes, the Chevra Kadisha (Burial Society) is available to help plan and coordinate arrangements as needed. We send out community email announcements that include biographical information about the deceased, the time and location of the funeral, burial, meal of consolation, and shiva, and where to send condolences and memorial contributions.
